What is Rotaract?

Rotary is one of the world's first non-profit service organizations, since then Rotary has spread across the world as an impactful service organization that has contributed in making the world a better place. Among its countless measures, Rotary is known for its efforts to eradicate Polio in the world.

In 1968, Rotary initiated a program for the young leaders between the ages of 18 and 30, and it was seen as the grounds of Rotary in Action and thus named 'Rotaract'. Since then, it has evolved into a global movement spread throughout the globe and leading fellowship through service.

In 1969, the Rotaract movement was introduced to Sri Lanka. It has expanded into over 70 Rotaract Clubs including 23 Institute-based clubs with over 5000 Rotaractors, engaged in rendering their services in various capacities.These clubs comprise of youth from various backgrounds, as they represent communities, educational institutes, private and state universities and corporates.

The strength of the movement is in its diverse membership, as it includes young professionals, entrepreneurs and students from various fields, who are brought together by the call for fellowship and service.

The Rotaract Club of ICBT, founded by Masato Methun, was charted on the 1st of July, 2018. It is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cinnamon Gardens. The club consists of 70+ members from various ethnicities all working together towards one goal; to make the world a better place.
