To bring joy to the life of a child is a merit above all else. In the spirit of Christmas, the Rotaract Club of ICBT along with the Rotaract Club of Cinnamon Gardens set out to spread joy and cheer to the children of Wijewardhana Balika child development center. The Wijewardhana Balika home is an all-girls children’s home that fosters young children to be well-rounded individuals. The home situated in Walana, Panadura houses 22 girls aged 5 to 18.
‘Christmas Miracle’, an initiative by the Rotaract Clubs of ICBT and Cinnamon Gardens, aimed to spread the magic of Christmas to the blooming young children at the Wijewardhana Balika home by gifting Christmas presents to each child at the home.
Nostalgic feelings were no stranger to our rotaractors as we relived our childhood experiences during our time spent shopping for the perfect toys for the children.
From playing with the toys in the store to wrapping and preparing the presents, we felt like children once again as we were taken back to a simpler time.
On the morning of the 30th of December, a team of nine rotaractors from the two clubs set out for Panadura where we were greeted with the young ones lined up, patiently waiting their turn to receive a gift. Our kind gesture was met with grateful smiles and joyous laughter that echoed throughout the house, as they immediately got to playing with their new toys. The project was completed successfully with hearts full of delight; both the children’s and our rotaractors who were taken back to their childhood with the entire magical experience.
