Dusty roads surrounded by concrete walls could tell the stories of millions of souls. Each day, countless drops of sweat falls onto the cracked roads and vanishes among the thick layers of dust that covers the walkways, Ekel brooms held by blistered palms move in rhythm to collect dried leaves, fallen fruits, flowers, and your trash, the same hands then move to pick the wild grass grown within the walls, lanes, and blocks of clay, from dawn till the rosy setting of the sun their work continues for the day. An orange vest and a cart and you'll know who I am talking about!

They don't just clean the streets. They are the reason for your peace. Take a walk on a littered road and you'll know for sure. They aren't just the street sweepers. They are the guardians of a city. And they are worthy. Worthy of love and honour. And most importantly they are human. Just like you and me. And Rotaractors of ICBT got together to honour them for their immeasurable service for our community by a simple act of distributing packets of lunch covering the beautifiers of the roads, janitors, guards and other hard-working people of the areas of Bambalapitiya, Kollupitiya, Dehiwala, and Wellawatta.

The 28th of November will always be cherished because It wasn't just packets of rice but pieces of our hearts wrapped in love and gratefulness that went out. It wasn't just filling up a meal for a day but planting seeds of kindness in each other's hearts. Us Rotaractors might have not done one of the greatest deeds of all but us Rotaractors surely left home knowing that the simplest deed could more than fill your heart.
